FIRMM-pix

Improving the patient experience and data quality through in-bore biofeedback and gamification.

Our advanced solutions empower healthcare professionals to deliver personalized care. With precise imaging, detailed brain mapping, and real-time data, we tailor treatment plans to each patient’s unique needs, enhancing surgical outcomes.

Combat motion-induced image degradation with innovative patient training techniques.

Motion-induced image degradation remains a significant weakness of brain MRIs. Standard methods for coping with motion are anesthesia or repeated scanning — both of which are expensive and inefficient. FIRMM-pix combines gamification and biofeedback to train patients, including children, to stay still during image acquisition – ultimately improving brain MRI data quality.

  • Reduce patient motion during image acquisition without sedation
  • Improve data quality
  • Broaden the use of fMRI
  • Inform a personalized approach to treating neurosurgery patients

Explore a truly immersive gaming experience.

Combining biofeedback and gamification, FIRMM-pix effectively coaches patients to remain still, addressing motion at its source. Our premier game, Puppy Dreams, features licensed movie content and a puppy as the patient’s reliable guide, providing real-time feedback on any movements during the scan. FIRMMs-pix is the only visual biofeedback game to reduce head motion during medical imaging.

Films for motion reduction and visual feedback.

Programmed with absorbing content, patients may select a movie or short film to watch during their scan. Cues and prompts appear as video content streams, providing visual feedback to patients about their motion. Movie watching coupled with visual feedback reduces movement, improving overall data quality.

“ A tool like FIRMM-pix that can reduce patient motion during image acquisition without the need for sedation is desperately needed for improving data quality and broadening the use of fMRI to better inform a personalized approach to treating neurosurgery patients.”
